"Attack on Titan." That's the first thing my daughters said. Are you an anime lover, too? In this case, meet the troll, Little Sally! A Thomas Dambo creation made solely from reclaimed scrap wood & other wooden objects. I came across his sculptures online years ago, but never thought I'd see the work of this Danish artist in North Carolina. Now we have 7! Located in Raleigh, High Point, and Charlotte, each troll tells a story about protecting the "Grandmother Tree." Crowds have lessened a bit, so it's time to see them all. Sounds like a good weekend plan, right?😉 If you're not in NC, do a little research to see if Thomas Dambo has hidden a large surprise in your area, too. I thought this exhibit was hauntingly beautiful. Sure, I admired Vincent Van Gogh's gorgeous artwork, but I was also moved to see him as a deeply troubled and struggling human being. Van Gogh's mental health crises, complicated relationships, and deferred dreams led to the cutting off of his own left ear (after an argument with a friend), and then later ending his life. His last painting, Tree Roots, was completed just hours before he passed away. The exhibit has ended in Winston Salem, NC, but if it comes to your area, you should see it. Like me, I hope you'll come to equally appreciate his journey and the finished products of his work.
