3 Bags I Love For Outdoor Activities

I went to my closet & pulled out three types of bags I use for outdoor family activities. Each of them have been around for quite some time. Because I enjoy sharing all things family adventure, I figured this may be useful for a kindred spirit or newly adventurous soul out there.

Attending a festival is the perfect outdoor event to rock a crossbody purse. I prefer a medium amount of pockets inside for adequate storage but minimal fumbling. Crossbody purses are lightweight & can usually be tightened or loosened to your preference. Adjusting the strap allows the purse to sit higher or lower on your body as well.

I love that it leaves my hands free to care for & assist my daughters. You never know when they’ll need help with something or just want to hold my hand for affection. When traveling, my crossbody bags also come in handy during our explorations.

This backpack has stood the test of time! It’s my constant companion on hiking trails & goes with me on other adventures, too. I purchased it at a thrift store years ago after being drawn to the soft, colorful material. It has the perfect amount of pockets for me.

Sure… it’s a bit worn & dingy but it’s durable & definitely a keeper for now.

Backpacks are great for carrying what you need on the trails while keeping your hands free. We have various size backpacks but this particular one is my go-to for shorter hikes. It’s big enough for a few personal items, a water bottle, a small first aid kit, & also any items my daughters may need extra space for. I talk more about storing their hiking “treasures” here.

Another cool thing about backpacks is the option to wear them in front or back of you. In front feels weird but is a great option if you end up in a crowded area. When on your back, it’s easier for someone to get into it & you probably won’t have any idea! I suggest always keeping your money & ID’s in the innermost pockets or somewhere else all together.

Make your jokes & say what you will but I stand by my appreciation for these little bags. I’ve always loved fanny packs! They are super convenient, light weight, & nowadays very stylish. Once again, this is a hands-free bag which takes the weight off my shoulders.

Fanny packs have the versatility to be used in any of the scenarios above. Depending on the size you choose, you may be able to carry all the items you need (with the exception of water bottles) within them. I especially enjoy using one for short shopping trips or walks around town. Wearing mine at the park gives me freedom to play with my daughters, too.

As an adventurous mom, I need convenience & versatility. I appreciate high quality but I refuse to pay too much. That’s probably why I don’t have any brand preferences just yet as it pertains to outdoor bags. I use what’s inexpensive & works best. If I find a brand of bags I feel strongly about, I’ll be back to give you all the details. In the meantime, feel free to share your recommendations.
