TreeRunner Adventure Park | Building Confidence One Course At A Time

**This post is sponsored but all opinions are my own.**

My family, @TheHeards, received an invite to visit TreeRunner Adventure Park of Raleigh, NC. Whether or not you’re familiar with us, we live for fun, adventure, & family! TreeRunner seemed like THE place to be to experience those very things.

After some research, we found out the park has zip lines, ropes courses, & 70 obstacles within seven different courses & three difficulty levels. There’s also a fun junior park for kids ages four through seven. Our girls had a blast!

This aerial park has something for anyone seeking an adrenaline rush!

Arrival

If visiting TreeRunner is on your list (& it should be!), know that you must have a reservation. Reservations last approximately 3 hours. Ours was from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on a Sunday. There is a designated parking lot for guests. Parking was simple & not crowded the day of our visit.

We first stopped at the check-in booth to confirm our time, get wristbands, & receive further instruction. We were advised to use the restroom beforehand & joked about the hassle of having to go after getting on a harness! Porta potties were just around the corner & equipped with a hand washing station. There was a building with restrooms under construction. Hopefully, they’re for public use but you’ll have to inquire with the park for confirmation.

From there, we stopped at an area with cornhole boards to await orientation. There are picnic tables adjacent to this area. We waited about 20 minutes but passed the time playing cornhole. It was a fun start to our visit!

Our instructor was extremely nice, knowledgeable, & patient. He made sure we understood how to work our equipment & that we were comfortable using it. He was particularly intent on our daughters, @2PBGirls, being well-informed & capable. Safety is undeniably the top priority at TreeRunner. That was greatly appreciated as we prepped to jump from & through the trees!

The Courses

I mentioned the junior park but we didn’t start there. We moved right along to a ‘beginner’ course (everyone must do this first in order to advance). To tackle any of the courses, you must first climb the cargo net to reach the main platform/deck. When we reached the top, a staff member was there to direct us, clear up any confusion, & ensure we used our equipment properly once again.

It’s impossible to explain every step of the course but we were swinging, jumping, swaying, zip lining, & screaming along the way! The experience was every bit nerve wracking & exhilarating. My daughters and I aren’t very fond of heights & were quite nervous, but we jumped right in. *Literally* Knowing we had the best safety gear & how to use it gave us the confidence we needed.

We’re extremely proud of our girls. They faced their fears like champs & are more self-assured because of it. There were many chances to remind them of & focus on the meaning of courage. They had fears but weren’t paralyzed by them. We cherish teachable moments like this!

Plus, they experienced my moments of fear & witnessed me face them firsthand. “Daddy” is a daredevil & hardly afraid to do anything, but he was patient, reassuring, & cheered us on as usual. Having him there got us through the course much faster.

The Junior Park

Like the more advanced courses, the junior park has zip lines, suspension bridges, & other obstacles for kids to explore & climb. The course is only 2-3 feet off the ground allowing kids to feel safe but elated simultaneously. They’re able to work on motor skills, coordination, balance, build strength, develop self-confidence & more all in the name of fun & adventure!

Reservations for the junior park last 2 hours (includes 15 minute orientation) & require one-adult-per-child supervision. The junior park is definitely for younger kids (4-7) but older siblings/friends are able to run along & support the younger ones. That’s how our girls did it.

It’s worth mentioning the picnic table in the middle of the junior park. Parents can sit in the center of the action while monitoring their kids. We had to assist our girls a few times with their equipment & it was nice to be close by. Mommy & daddy were tired of course!
