Touring Black Mountain Chocolate Factory

Did someone say chocolate???

Better yet… a chocolate FACTORY?!

That’s all we needed to hear.

If you read about our recent visit to Kaleideum Science Museum or watched the vlog, you know we took an overnight road trip to Winston Salem. On our last day in the city, we decided to explore before going home.

Curiosity (and a fairly active sweet tooth) led us to Black Mountain Chocolate Factory. I mean we really can’t resist chocolate. After perusing the website, we were intrigued to learn about the process & get a taste of that goodness. Be sure to watch our experience at the link above.

To tour the factory, there are three options: behind-the-scenes, self-guided, & private group tours.

Our visit was spontaneous so we did a self-guided tour. There are plate glass windows to the kitchen/factory for viewing the chocolate creation process from start to finish. The length of time for a walk-in tour will only take a few minutes but depends on how long you linger.

What may take up most of your time is the sample bar. We were able to taste quite a variety of chocolates (sea salt, espresso, etc.) I’m not a fan of dark chocolate (as you’ll hear repeatedly in our vlog) but I love milk chocolate. Although I have my preferences like anyone else, I think it’s important to note the high-quality taste of Black Mountain Chocolate. Experience it firsthand when you visit.

For exact tour days/times, ticket prices, etc, be sure to visit the website . Also, as noted on the site, here's a bit of info you should be mindful of before scheduling a tour:

"Note that this is tour of an active food production facility. Hair nets may be required to be worn. Please avoid wearing strong fragrances."
