How We Spent 3 Days In Myrtle Beach, SC

April 2021.

There are no vlogs for this trip, unfortunately, but that’s the beauty of having a website & social media. I have details, photos, and a few reels to help share our experience with you.

Next time there WILL be vlogs.

Let’s get into hotel information. Then I’ll share content captured on our phones.

Where We Stayed

Bay View Resort was home the duration of our trip. We had the Oceanfront Condo which has two full beds, one bathroom, living room with a sleeper sofa, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and more. Plus, a private balcony right in front of the ocean.

Going to the beach just doesn’t feel right without that oceanfront view. Don’t you agree?

This wasn’t our first stay at Bay View Resort. And at the time, not only was it familiar, there was plenty of availability. Pricing was also decent. The property was much less crowded & that was enjoyable. I’m sure this was partly due to the pandemic.

Below are vlogs from our stay at this resort years ago (2017). This particular room had an ocean view but wasn’t oceanfront. In these videos, you get a glimpse of where we stayed as well as the fullness of the trip. After you watch, be sure to subscribe to our youtube channel for fun past & present adventures.

It was spring break for my daughters. We traveled during the week to get ahead of weekend crowds. I think all of us were beyond excited.

When we arrived, we did the usual by heading to the store for food, drinks, & other needed items. In this case, there was a Walmart Neighborhood Market nearby. We like to have groceries on hand to cut the costs of eating out. And with two growing, hungry girls, things can get expensive.

Temperatures were still chilly in April. Therefore, long pants & jackets were necessary at some points in the day. Thankfully, there was plenty of sunshine. And although the girls couldn’t do much splashing, they were excited just to get outside. Simply being near the ocean makes us happy.

See this fun reel of me granting their “let’s go outside” wish.

Our Activities

We only had three days & purposely made a pact not to cram the time with rushed activities. That itinerary has its place but defeated the purpose of this getaway. A change of scenery, break from the routine, & sounds of the ocean were (personally) like medicine to the soul.

There were naps taken & walks along the shoreline. My daughters found more shells than our bags could carry as they played & buried their feet in the sand. We let the sun illuminate our faces & revive our joy.

Like I said… medicine.

Stores along the “strip” provided a bit of entertainment as we shopped for swimsuits & toys. The girls especially liked going into a colorful candy store. They wanted to buy candies but long lines stole the excitement. They chose to leave & purchase elsewhere instead.

We had pizza & burgers at boardwalk restaurants & dined on southern cooking at Big Mike’s Soul Food. We purchased from Big Mike’s on the way out of town.

Choosing places to eat was honestly the most stressful part of the trip. Stressful because restaurant hours & menu item availability varied daily due to pandemic restrictions. Food is normally one of the highlights. Not this time.

The Sky Wheel- which we rode in one of the videos above- had also been shut down. While places like the arcade & other indoor venues were open, social distancing had to be considered. The arcade gave us the most space to do that. Playing games is always fun!

See this reel of time at the arcade.

Dolphin Excursion

We chose Myrtle Beach Watersports for this activity. Booking was simple. The cost was around $100 (give or take) for the four of us. We had an appointment/arrival time & didn’t wait long to board. There’s also a restaurant & bar at the location for your convenience & seafood enjoyment.

Excursions are always one highlight of a beach trip for me. The only problem is… my youngest daughter & I have extreme motion sickness. We did okay for a while but without taking medication to control it, our heads were eventually down & eyes shut. Lesson learned.

Luckily, no dolphins were spotted that day because it was both of my daughters’ first experience. I wouldn’t want either of them to miss out. Next time, we’ll be prepared with medication & have our eyes open in case marine life appears.

If you book with this company but there are no dolphin sightings, you’re given a free pass to ride at another time of your choosing.

Before boarding the boat, each family has the option to take a photo. It can be viewed & purchased upon your return. Our photo below is a “pic of a pic” & isn’t very clear but gives you an idea of what you get. It comes with it’s own plaque & glass frame. It looks much nicer in person.

Again, this was in April of 2021.

See a snippet of us on the boat in this reel.

Overall, our stay was short & sweet. My daughters & I haven’t been back to Myrtle Beach but already have an itinerary planned. Our next trip will hopefully be a bit longer, allowing for more experiences & rest alike. As always, we’ll share it with you.
