5 Books That'll Give You The Kick In The Butt You Need

For the past couple of months, I’ve devoured words. My eyes have stayed in books. I’ve turned pages & absorbed as much as my brain can handle. Hang around my blog or Instagram feed & you’ll soon learn my love of reading. I don’t talk about it all the time but I enjoy sharing good literature because I want you to get in on the goodness, too.

There are some I started but didn’t finish & then there are those I couldn’t put down. I’ll also give you a peek into what’s next on the list. Let me know what you’ve been reading or plan to read as well. My books-to-read list grows daily!

Everything is Figureoutable

This is the first book I’ve read by Marie Forleo but she nailed it! Her words came into my life at a time I needed them most. Not only is it encouraging & inspirational, but Marie calls you out on your crap. She makes you take responsibility, acknowledge your part in whatever you’re facing, & then gives you the tools to move forward.

As an avid reader & someone who’s consistently doing inner work, none of what I read was rocket science. Personal development material is one of my favorite things to dive into so I’ve heard most things before. Marie’s “everything is figureoutable” philosophy, however, just hits differently. It suffocates excuses & gave me a serious confidence boost.

Her style is right up my alley, too. If you don’t like colorful words or get uncomfortable with swearing, choose something different. I’m a swearer. I won’t lie. And when I’m reading something that makes me face my mess, I don’t need fluff. Serve it to me raw homie.

Otherwise, you’ll enjoy Marie’s humor, wisdom, relatability, & honesty. You’ll learn about her failures & triumphs as she gives you actionable steps to make things happen. I think everyone should read Everything Is Figureoutable. For me, it was another life-altering reading experience.

Secrets Of Closing The Sale

The author, Zig Ziglar, is a master salesman, motivational speaker, & author. If your profession (retail, automotives, influencer marketing, dentistry, etc), requires you to promote or sell anything, this is a book you cannot afford to pass up. You will come to see Zig as a man of high morals, integrity, & honesty. I think you’ll benefit from the philosophies therein no matter your field.

As a blogger & someone who has worked with brands for years now, I connect with people on a regular basis. A part of that connection is to sometimes introduce new ideas/products/services. Reading Secrets Of Closing The Sale has taught me to go deeper with whatever method(s) I use to make those introductions.

I’m always very grateful for the support I receive in my small corner of the digital world. Anything I can do or learn to make our interactions more meaningful is a top priority. If this kind of book applies to your life or appeals to you, it’s well worth your time.

Our Time Is Now

I’ve only recently started this book by the dynamic, Stacey Abrams. She is a powerful force to be reckoned with on all fronts. if you don’t know who she is, a quick Google search will teach you.

I’ve become more interested in politics over the past four years than ever before. 2020 was probably my most vocal year. And after learning about the strides Stacey Abrams has made to fight voter suppression, I had to grab her book, Our Time Is Now.

It starts off with a captivating personal story that helps you understand more about her family & upbringing concerning politics. I was hooked immediately. When I’m done with it, I’ll pop in and expand on this section.

The Mastery Of Love

I think Don Miguel Ruiz’s most popular book is The Four Agreements. I’ve read it but I’m now taking on the entire three-book set. It includes The Four Agreements, The Mastery Of Love, & The Voice Of Knowledge.

I started Mastery Of Love but haven’t finished it. The three-book set goes deeply into mastering personal freedom, relationships, & inner peace. As I mentioned, personal development (in any form) is one of my favorite genres. I’m excited to read what other wisdom Don can impart into my being.

Millionaire Success Habits

It’s been on my shelf for a while now. This book by Dean Graziosi has gotten great reviews by people I admire like Marie Forleo & Brendon Burchard. I started it but life happened & I never finished.

The title speaks for itself but I’m curious as to how it will transform my mindset towards wealth, prosperity, & success. You can read the same words repeatedly but depending on who wrote them, the effect on you will be different each time.

After getting through the pages of Millionaire Success Habits, I’ll be back to share my opinion. I can say, however, that what I’ve read so far has been enlightening & enjoyable.

Now… what’s on your list to read? If you’ve been a devourer of words like me, what have you read lately that had an impact on you?

I have a lot more to share with you but I’ll dish them out a few at a time. I want to give you time to read any that I’ve recommended so far. See the last book post I wrote here.
