5 Tips For Sunday Prep

I woke up with sinus issues this morning but even worse…feelings of overwhelm. The reason???

Not doing my Sunday prep for the week.

Sunday (yesterday) was really busy but I knew better! I went to bed knowing I wasn’t prepared & that I’d pay for it somehow. That usually means barely hanging on & exhausted.

I thought I’d write a quick post sharing what I do in case it can help you.

Here’s how Sunday prep works for me...

1. Grab Coffee Or Tea

It depends on the time of day & what I have a taste for. Having a hot cup of something calms me & makes me feel more productive.

2. Family Check-In

I cannot have a clear head or schedule without finding out what everyone has going on. Are there appointments to add, errands to run, or adventures to participate in? While spontaneity can be fun, this household works best when we know what to expect.

3. Brain Dump

I get out my notebook & write down everything that comes to mind. Housework, business, new goals, meal ideas, creative endeavors, etc. are all included in that list. I also add my family’s input. (Feel free to separate your list into categories if need be.)

4. Get Organized

With my planner & brain dump list in view, I figure out what can be done on which days. It may take moving things around a bit, but I eventually land on a schedule I can work with. If it also works for everyone in the household, it's a win!

5. Prioritize

On my daily to-do list, I prioritize the top 2-3 things. You know the ones that MUST get done. The other stuff either gets done afterwards, during free time, or becomes priorities for the next week.

When the above steps are completed, I jump into action readying for the next day. Mondays are easier when I’m prepared. Well… that applies to everyday, right?

If time & energy are still plentiful, I’ll often head out for necessary items. Otherwise, running errands has already been penciled in for a specific day. If it’s a really good day, I may even throw a meal or two in the crock pot or oven to get ahead. That rarely happens though.

Do you have a Sunday prep routine? If so, what does it look like? Be sure to share this post with anyone you think can use it.
