Thinking Back: 2023 To 2024

I’ve been reminiscing on last year.

A fantastic period, but with many drastic contradictions.

Doors opened to epic places and landed us in the company of many amazing people. The flow was magnificent. In the last quarter, however, things got a bit rocky.

For instance, I faced challenging issues as a parent that I hadn’t before. They demanded all of my time and attention. I disappeared from online spaces and other areas to focus on what matters MOST. I’m wholeheartedly committed to my daughters.

Although exhausting, my goodness we’ve learned a lot together. And that’s how our little family survives everything. We don’t bow out, run away, abandon one another, or give up. It’s called stick-to-it-iveness.

Let’s Talk Work Stuff

There were also times of doubt and fear career-wise. Yet, I think that’ll always be the case when wanting more. It’s no secret that realized dreams (and achieved goals) are preceded by major shifts. The hardest part is hanging on in the process regardless of professional, financial, and personal setbacks.

Growth isn’t linear, nor is it all fun and games. The process is often grueling and painful. Again, remember that the really good stuff is on the other side.

I want what I want. Period. And I won’t stop doing this dance until I reach my intended destinations or take my last breath. Whichever comes first. Settling in any area of life is now totally unacceptable for me.

Sometimes things happen for me a little more slowly than I'd like, but I've learned to be okay with that. I'm living my life for me and doing my best to enjoy the process - no matter how long it takes. Speed doesn't guarantee success nor happiness.

And a word of advice: If you’re experiencing hardships right now, please ignore anyone who applauds your sufferings. You know… the people wanting you to fail. What they’re lacking inside has no bearing on what you can (and will) achieve.

2023 travel

We visited a few new places across our state of NC and a took a short Virginia road trip. We had the best times! Unfortunately, however, another in-state and one out-of-state trip were both postponed for reasons beyond our control. An international trip also had to be delayed. While annoying, I see those occurrences as divine intervention. Things happen for reasons beyond our understanding.

My girls are always more laid back than I expect in the midst of changes. Like me, they know timing is everything. We prefer things to be in alignment to ensure the best experiences. Therefore, we’re patient.

I love that about us.

wHat’s up in 2024

Remember those major shifts I mentioned earlier? I’ve already made a few. Some well before the new year arrived.

2024 is about learning, enhancing, pushing past lingering comfort zones, etc. Once again, getting into alignment is the focus. This year is already requiring actions from me that I’ve never taken before. I just keep reminding myself that I’m more than capable.

A thing I’m most looking forward to is deepening connections. Getting in the presence of those I admire and appreciate more often. Getting better acquainted with others I’ve only recently connected with. I’m very selective about who’s allowed into our lives, our circle.

I told ya, I believe things happen for a reason, and that includes meetings and interactions. If I have anything to say about it (and I do!), 2024 will be a hell of a year in the best ways.

Yes, even despite inevitable challenges.
