5 Books I've Enjoyed & What's Next On My List

No matter how well things are going, life doesn’t feel balanced unless I’m making my way through a book. Are you like me & prefer physically holding a book? The weight of it, the sound of the pages turning, even the smell does something wonderful to my soul!

Realistically, there’s not always time to curl up & get comfy. That’s when I turn to audio books. I’m in my car so often it only makes sense to pop in a CD & get my fix while driving. The last audio book I listened to is Around The Way Girl , by Taraji P. Henson. Phenomenal! I also like digital books. Girl, Stop Apologizing , by Rachel Hollis, was my last digital indulgence. Terrific!

How about you? What’s the last book you’ve read or listened to?

Let’s jump into more books I’ve recently enjoyed.

Go Giver

I cannot find words to express how much this book impacted me. It’s about business & profit but is presented in a way that teaches you how to serve & be valuable. The concept works in your business, family life, & any other area. Taking the focus off of you & receiving, the book directs it towards your customers & giving instead. Go Giver is truly is a remarkable book & one you can’t afford to miss out on!

Author(s): Bob Burg & John David Mann

Intentional Networking

As a writer & digital content creator, I’ve become familiar with conferences & events that cater to those working in the online space. While these are very beneficial, it’s easier for me to attend local networking events. They’re more affordable & allow me to meet other creatives & business owners in my community. As an introverted extrovert (it’s a thing!), making these connections takes a lot out of me. That’s where this book comes in.

In the most practical way, Intentional Networking teaches you how to navigate networking situations. It walks you through processes that help you stand out while conserving your introverted energy. The author, also an introvert, has written it from his perspective. Reading this book was like having someone inside of my brain. His thoughts & feelings were so akin to mine! I appreciated the relatability, honesty, & common sense ways to approach networking.

Author: Joseph Novara

Year Of Yes

I talked about reading this book for a long time. My daughters eventually gifted it to me for my birthday. I was ecstatic! Year Of Yes gave me the push I needed to stop hiding. It helped me realize the opportunities I was missing out on by rarely saying “yes” to things.

Whether hindered by busyness, introversion, or fear, I have self-sabotaged much too often in life. I even recall turning down invites because I didn’t feel my presence was adequate enough. I’ve given my power away to lies too many times! Year of Yes taught me how to let go, stop doubting myself, & give things (and people!) a chance. It helped that a writer I greatly admire, Shonda Rhimes, is the author. Who would’ve thought someone like her would have the same issues?! Goes to show you… we’re all human & have insecurities we don’t wear on our sleeves!

Author: Shonda Rhimes

All of the books mentioned above I highly recommend. They have greatly benefited me in my personal & business life. Be sure to make them must-reads! Below are the next ones on my list to get through. Let me know if you’ve read any of these books or if you plan to.
